The global outpouring and is coronavirus God’s judgement?

April 12, 2020

In Joel 2 and Acts 2 we read that in the end times God will pour out His Spirit on all flesh. In John 14 verse 12 Jesus says “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.”

We live in days when God is calling ALL  believers to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and through His anointing we can pray for the sick and see them healed, even see the dead raised as a testimony of who He is, His love, and to validate the message that He is the only way to the Father (John 14 6-7) and only when we give Him our lives can we be saved from an eternal Hell to an eternity with Him (John 3 16) . God will use every situation, especially adversity to prepare our hearts and draw us closer to Him. Many believe we are seeing a soon coming global outpouring of the glory of God to bring in a harvest of many souls. Will this be the final outpouring before Jesus returns? I don’t know, but there is an urgency to share like never before, and we are all called to, not just high profile ministers who operate with a gift of healing and working of miracles, but God wants to give authority to many believers.

I believe He is using the current crisis to cause unbelievers to seek Him and prepare His bride to share His gospel through demonstrations of power but did God send the coronavirus pandemic in judgement?

There have been many views and opinions that have been stated but are misleading. Here are some that I believe are wrong and why.

* God has sent the virus as judgement

I do not believe this is true. We live in a dispensation of grace – Jesus took sickness and sin on the cross – Romans 6 23 Galatians 3 13 Jesus took the punishment for our sins John 5 22 “ For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:” Jesus reaches out in love to all who will accept His free gift of salvation.

There WILL be a time of judgement when all who have rejected Jesus Christ are punished for their sins.
In the Tribulation millions will die of plague Revelation 6: 8 but we are not in that time yet.
So does that mean that the coronavirus crisis is not related to the millions of abortions, attack on the sanctity of marriage, lawlessness and turning away from God? No because although God promises to protect believers through His covenant sealed by the blood Jesus shed, promises such as are found in Psalm 91 are for believers only. This means that if you don’t know Jesus as Lord and Saviour you are vulnerable to demonic attack and disease , you don’t have the same covering that believers have even though God loves you very much and wants you to come to Him. Some say that suffering the consequences of sin is the same as judgement. I do not agree. For example, if you walk into a wall because you did not take care to look where you are going does that mean that God slammed you into the wall as judgement? No! You did not take due care and the consequences were painful, that is all.

* God sent the virus to give us a rest.

Again that is wrong. He might use it for that for some, but try telling that to our brave health and care workers who are working night and day, those suffering with the virus and grieving and worried family members.

* God sent the virus because He wants to stop mass gatherings, large churches and move to online services.

That is not true. In Heaven now millions of saints and angels are around God’s throne worshiping Him and there are parties in Heaven, God is not into people being isolated.

* God sent the virus to prepare His people’s hearts to share the gospel in greater dimensions of His love and power.

It is true that God can and does use every adverse situation for His glory Romans 8 28 says “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” It is true He is preparing believers to share the gospel in greater dimensions of His love and power, for us to go to deeper levels of repentance and share with people now, but He hasn’t sent the virus otherwise why should we pray against it? The word corona is Latin and means crown. Coronavirus is a counterfeit crown of the enemy that I believe has come from Hell designed to bring destruction and death and cause the nations to be in economic subjugation to those who do not believe in the sovereignty of nations. Jesus is The One True King of Kings. We pray for His kingdom to come and His will be done “on Earth as it is in Heaven.” There is NO sickness in Heaven.

You can never go wrong with God’s Word and His Spirit.

I would like to encourage you to read your Bible everyday, speak out His promises and thank Him for your protection, prosperity and health, give Him all the praise and the glory, worship Him alone, pray and commune with Him, and you will know His peace (Isaiah 26 verse 3) as keep your eyes focused on Him in the days ahead. If you do not yet know for sure where you will go when you die, get right with God now, and make Jesus Christ your Lord and Saviour today!

Being Ready For God’s New Thing

September 3, 2013

When God does a new thing it will always offend tradition and take us out of our comfort zone. Are we ready for it?

Take the 1906 Azusa revival for example. Frank Bartleman, evangelist, had been handing out gospel tracts in Los Angeles when He grew hungry for more of God. He asked Evan Roberts how his city could have a move of God like the 1904/05 Welsh revival. Here’s what Evan Roberts said:

“Congregate the people who are willing to make a total surrender. Pray and wait. Believe God’s promises. Hold daily meetings. May God bless you is my earnest prayer.”

When God hit Azusa Street Bartleman testified about receiving what he described as a “heavenly chorus” entering him, and receiving a supernatural gift. Here is part of his documented testimony about this new thing:

“It was a spontaneous manifestation and rapture no earthly tongue can describe. In the beginning this manifestation was wonderfully pure and powerful. We feared to try to reproduce it, as with the “tongues” also. Now many seemingly have no hesitation in imitating all the “gifts.” No one could understand this “gift of song” but those who had it. It was indeed a “new song” in the Spirit. When I first heard it in the meeting a great hunger entered my soul to receive it. I felt it would exactly express my pent up feelings. I had not yet spoken in “tongues.” But the “new song” captured me. It was a gift from God of high order, and appeared among us soon after the “Azusa” work began.

No one had preached it. The Lord had sovereignly bestowed it, with the outpouring of the “residue of oil,” the “Latter Rain” baptism of the Spirit. It was exercised, as the Spirit moved the possessors, either in solo fashion, or by the company. It was sometimes without words, other times in “tongues.” The effect was wonderful on the people. It brought a heavenly atmosphere, as though the angels themselves were present and joining with us. And possibly they were. It seemed to still criticism and opposition, and was hard for even wicked men to gainsay or ridicule.

Some have condemned this “new song,” without words. But was not sound given before language? And is there not intelligence without language also? Who composed the first song? Must we necessarily follow some man’s composition, before us, always? We are too much worshippers of tradition. The speaking in “tongues” is not according to man’s wisdom or understanding. Then why not a “gift of song?” “

In Azusa there was barely any focus on ministers and on people. No focus on the preacher, worship musicians and songwriters. Even the Pastor William Seymour covered his face with a shoebox. There was a level of humility that recognised that “no flesh should glory in His presence.” 1 Corinthians 1 29

People were that desperate for God, and would pay any price for more of Him. God sovereignly visited them in a way that has changed the world.

Most of us want to be blessed materially and God wants to bless us in that way, but there is a higher prosperity in the Spirit that has not had enough emphasis. There is great danger, especially in Western affluent culture of insouciance, complacency, and pride. We can get satisfied and comfortable with the status quo and not even realise how much we need Him.

God is ready to do a new thing (Isaiah 43 18-19) but are we ready for what that “new thing” is?

More of God’s miracle working power in Dudley

March 28, 2008

I talked to an elderly gentleman in town today March 27th for longer than I think I have spoken to anyone in the streets. He had a terminal condition connected with his lungs, and was still smoking despite struggling for breath. Because of past hurts he was not open to receiving prayer, but yet really wanted to talk. After about 20 minutes a church member, John who had been baptised the previous Sunday came up to us and I asked him to share his testimony. We both continued to share God’s love with him. Finally, as God touched his heart, he accept Jesus. He was then open to us praying for his healing. He had also been stone deaf in his right ear for 15 years. As we prayed, God clearly touched him. Not only did he feel the peace of God, but was able to hear somewhat out of that right ear. Praise God for His goodness! That same day God gave me words of knowledge for people. I had had a word of knowledge earlier that week about a young lady being a trainee hairdresser. Today God put a certain year on my heart for a man that I was ministering to over a cup of coffee. He told me that that year he had had a car accident, was on life support, and very nearly lost his life. I am praying that God would give me more detailed information. It really does demonstrate the reality of God to people. The gifts of the Spirit are our inheritance in Christ, but we need to press in to receive all that He has for us to glorify His name, and see His Kingdom extended.
