Being Ready For God’s New Thing

September 3, 2013

When God does a new thing it will always offend tradition and take us out of our comfort zone. Are we ready for it?

Take the 1906 Azusa revival for example. Frank Bartleman, evangelist, had been handing out gospel tracts in Los Angeles when He grew hungry for more of God. He asked Evan Roberts how his city could have a move of God like the 1904/05 Welsh revival. Here’s what Evan Roberts said:

“Congregate the people who are willing to make a total surrender. Pray and wait. Believe God’s promises. Hold daily meetings. May God bless you is my earnest prayer.”

When God hit Azusa Street Bartleman testified about receiving what he described as a “heavenly chorus” entering him, and receiving a supernatural gift. Here is part of his documented testimony about this new thing:

“It was a spontaneous manifestation and rapture no earthly tongue can describe. In the beginning this manifestation was wonderfully pure and powerful. We feared to try to reproduce it, as with the “tongues” also. Now many seemingly have no hesitation in imitating all the “gifts.” No one could understand this “gift of song” but those who had it. It was indeed a “new song” in the Spirit. When I first heard it in the meeting a great hunger entered my soul to receive it. I felt it would exactly express my pent up feelings. I had not yet spoken in “tongues.” But the “new song” captured me. It was a gift from God of high order, and appeared among us soon after the “Azusa” work began.

No one had preached it. The Lord had sovereignly bestowed it, with the outpouring of the “residue of oil,” the “Latter Rain” baptism of the Spirit. It was exercised, as the Spirit moved the possessors, either in solo fashion, or by the company. It was sometimes without words, other times in “tongues.” The effect was wonderful on the people. It brought a heavenly atmosphere, as though the angels themselves were present and joining with us. And possibly they were. It seemed to still criticism and opposition, and was hard for even wicked men to gainsay or ridicule.

Some have condemned this “new song,” without words. But was not sound given before language? And is there not intelligence without language also? Who composed the first song? Must we necessarily follow some man’s composition, before us, always? We are too much worshippers of tradition. The speaking in “tongues” is not according to man’s wisdom or understanding. Then why not a “gift of song?” “

In Azusa there was barely any focus on ministers and on people. No focus on the preacher, worship musicians and songwriters. Even the Pastor William Seymour covered his face with a shoebox. There was a level of humility that recognised that “no flesh should glory in His presence.” 1 Corinthians 1 29

People were that desperate for God, and would pay any price for more of Him. God sovereignly visited them in a way that has changed the world.

Most of us want to be blessed materially and God wants to bless us in that way, but there is a higher prosperity in the Spirit that has not had enough emphasis. There is great danger, especially in Western affluent culture of insouciance, complacency, and pride. We can get satisfied and comfortable with the status quo and not even realise how much we need Him.

God is ready to do a new thing (Isaiah 43 18-19) but are we ready for what that “new thing” is?

Miracles near Lakeland Florida with footage!

April 27, 2008

Today is the last day of Todd Bentley’s revival meetings in Auberndale, in the Lakeland area of Florida USA. Tomorrow he moves to the 9000 seater Lakeland Convention Center. I went to the Auberndale Florida Walmart today and ministered to people. I prayed for a man who had asthma and a heart condition. He told me he had had visions of him walking near a castle and a river, perhaps heavenly places! His condition made him weak though. When I prayed for him he told me he felt the power of God, a warmth touched his upper body, and said his breathing had improved.

I prayed for a man who had been in a motorcycle accident the day before with a twisted ankle, finding it very difficult to walk and in much pain. Jesus healed his pain, and he asked me to pray for his wife who had back pain. She thought the pain related to the sciatic nerve. I prayed for her, the power of God touched her, and the pain left her body! They shared their testimonies, and you can see them in the video footage below. It is wonderful to minister in an atmosphere of an open Heaven!

My time in Lakeland Florida for the revival!

April 27, 2008

I am currently in Florida near Lakeland for the glorious revival here with evangelist and revivalist Todd Bentley. I want to get deeper with God, and take back more fires of revival to Dudley, the UK, and beyond. It has been wonderful so far. The meetings have been in Auburndale Life Church because Ignited Church Lakeland could not seat the thousands that are showing up. The miracles are getting more glorious here, we’re talking about radical creative miracles like kidneys being created, metal dissolving, eardrums being created by God to heal deafness, and so much more.

As you know if you regularly read my blog I’ve documented miracles that have happened on the streets of Dudley since January 2008, but I’m believing for much greater when I get back. It is all about The Lord Jesus Christ, and his ministry here in these days.

Yesterday night the fire fell, there was glory in the house! Rory Alec, co-founder of The God Channel was there, as was Sid Roth of the wonderful It’s Supernatural programme. It was announced that the revival meetings will now be in the 9000 seater Lakeland Convention Center to accommodate the thousands who are coming from America and the world.

I will never be the same again after this time in Florida. I am falling more in love with Jesus, and The Father is imparting more of His love into my heart which I need for myself, and also to give away to those I minister to. Each night Todd is laying hands on everyone in the meetings, literally thousands, imparting various anointings, and tonight he will be individually praying for all people who are sick. These are exciting times we are in. I am believing that The Lord is sending revival to Dudley and the UK, and we will see more glorious supernatural manifestations of His love and miracle working power. All the glory to Him!

The Kingdom of Heaven: miracles on the streets

January 12, 2008

Hi, I’m Richard. I am married with four children, and I like watching Newcastle United, Minnesota Vikings, The LA Angels, cricket, movies, and fast food! I attend Revival Fires Church, Dudley England. Above everything though I love Jesus Christ, and seeing other people come into a life changing relationship with Him. He is so wonderful, and fills the God-shaped vacuum in all of us, He meets the deep-seated need for love that we all have. I love seeing the miracles of Jesus here today in the 21st century. I’ve started this blog to draw attention to Him especially for those who don’t know Him, but also to show what our inheritance and commission as believers is in Him, that’s every believer, not just the likes of Benny Hinn and Reinhard Bonnke. We, with all our imperfections and weaknesses are called to share our faith in Jesus Christ and believe that He will back it up with signs, wonders, and miracles as a testimony to His love, and who He is. This is so the focus will be on Him and not us because only The Holy Spirit can draw anyone to a saving faith. If you are not a believer then I encourage you to pursue truth and you will find it. Jesus said I am the truth. When you seek truth you discover that it is a person, the Lord Jesus Christ, God eternal, co-equal with God The Father and God The Holy Spirit. See my website http://www.Jesusevidence.com and you will see how real Jesus is. If you are a believer please visit the website. It will encourage you in your faith, and you can share it with seekers so that they too can discover Jesus. To God be all the glory.

In 2007 I started seeing Jesus heal and save people as I went out on the streets in England. Conditions such as leg pains, stomache aches, headaches, arthritis, a painful wrist and deafness were healed by Jesus either partially or completely as I prayed. Sometimes God gave me a prophetic word for people. When they saw that Jesus was real they asked Him into their lives, prayed to turn from sin, and were saved. They came into an eternal relationship with God through the finished work of Christ’s death on the cross and were spared eternity in Hell.

When I went to India I saw conditions such as blindness, deafness, and tumors healed by the power of God. I laid hands on a large swelling on a man’s leg, most probably a tumor, and as I and one or two others prayed within seconds it shrivelled down to nothing by God’s power. That was part of an evening in Gangtok, India where we had a visitation of the glory of God.

It is now January 2008. I have just finished a short season of fasting and praying and will be going out on the streets soon. Jesus is the healer. It is all about Him. If you are a Christian you can do this too, just have a go, it doesn’t matter if nothing happens because I have experienced that a lot and felt discouraged at times. Just persist, seek His face constantly, live a Godly lifestyle, and trust Him and you will see miracles that flow from His throne of grace that will touch hearts. Most of all go out with His love and compassion. If you read the Bible the miracles of Jesus were rooted in His love and compassion for the people he prayed for.

Isaiah 53:5 says that “by His stripes we are healed.” God’s gift of healing is part of the new covenant for all believers but it is actually a gift available to ALL!
