My first book “The Evidence For Jesus” out now

January 24, 2015

My new book “The Evidence For Jesus” is out now in paperback form. I present evidence that Jesus is who He claimed to be, the Son of God for the unbeliever and the seeker, but also to encourage you in your faith if you are a believer, and to give you a tool for soul winning.

I explore healing miracles as you might expect if you’ve been reading this blog regularly, but also many other subjects such as The Shroud of Turin, experiences of those who have visited Heaven and Hell and met Jesus including my wife Sasha Steel who faced clinical death while giving birth before coming back , the Resurrection, the gospels from a historical perspective, the confirmation that not just from the Bible Jesus existed as a significant historical figure, Old Testament prophecies, and the Bible Codes that are embedded in Isaiah 53 and elsewhere that prophecy Jesus. There is an invitation at the end to receive salvation.

This book is ideal not to just to read and be uplifted, but also to give away to someone afterwards. It does not just aim to be a book of fascinating information, but reveals our awesome Jesus and how much He loves and yearns for His lost sheep. This is the front and back cover:

The Mountain of Religion in God’s Seven Mountains Strategy for Harvest

February 8, 2013

For those who might not be aware of the Seven Mountain Prophecy it pertains to a strategy that God gave Bill Bright , founder of Campus Crusade, and Loren Cunningham, founder of Youth with a Mission in the mid 1970s along with Francis Schaeffer to see God’s Kingdom touch and reclaim the seven spheres of society, namely economy, government, family, education, arts, media and religion or spirituality. Contemporary exponents of it including Lance Wallnau and Johnny Enlow have received additional revelation and understanding from God concerning it, and I highly recommend getting hold of excellent DVDs and books by those two if you would like further information about the subject.

In this article though I would like to focus on the mountain of religion and how it should be considered to be pivotal in the context of God’s seven mountain strategy of seeing the world reached for Jesus Christ, and not separate.

We live in times that are both exciting and challenging. I believe that the mandate of Isaiah 60: 1-3 for The Church to carry the glory of God to into the world is very timely, and we must position ourselves accordingly. What has been concealed in darkness in the UK has come to the light, now it’s time for God’s glory to be concealed no more, and not just in my nation. His glory is touching all seven mountains, and we are called to impact our spheres of influence.

It is imperative that the body of Christ learn the lessons from history so that they can embrace the new awakening, and see the maximum impact in terms of transformed lives and eternal destinies.

WHAT IS THE MOUNTAIN OF RELIGION?

The word religion is not the most popular word amongst believers and unbelievers. Its negative connotations of man’s control, and sterile lifeless tradition and ritual are the very antithesis of a vibrant Spirit-filled relationship with a loving Father through Jesus. The word “religion” found in Acts 26:5 and James 1 26-27 is the Greek word “thrēskeia” which means both that related to external ceremonies but also worship. So the key is that there is nothing wrong with “religion” providing that it is the expression of a community of believers worshiping God and seeking Him corporately with Holy Spirit orchestrating and infusing all the activity helping us to be “unspotted from the world”. Those called into full time ministry are clearly called to the mountain of religion, but that does not mean that they are not called to other mountains. Similarly I believe that the mountain of religion is not the exclusive domain of those in full time paid Ephesians 4: 11 ministry either.

LEARNING FROM THE PAST

Historically churches shut themselves off from the other six mountains for either selfish reasons, ignorance, or both. As we can see in the book of Acts this was never God’s intention. The hallmarks of a genuine revival should be that it goes outside the four walls of the church to touch the marketplace, and indeed all sectors of society. There has been a danger of separating this mountain from the other mountains though because of the failures of the past in seeing it as effective as God’s primary agent to bring in the harvest. It must be remembered though that a program rather than a presence based approach to taking these other mountains will not only fall flat, but continue to alienate the world from going into a church setting. Pursuing professionalism and a spirit of excellence to touch the seven mountains is not without merit, but woefully insufficient in itself to see the the full emergence of a Kingdom culture that draws men and women to God.

We need The Spirit Himself flowing in and out of the Church uncontained to all the seven mountains in society.

A wrong way to embrace the seven mountain strategy is to assume that the best strategy for evangelism is just to infiltrate the non-church six mountains because the mountain of religion hasn’t worked well enough in doing this. The consequence is a lukewarm church that loses faith in seeing the sick healed, the dead raised, and the belief in visitations and Heavenly encounters to touch the unsaved such as are reported increasingly more in nations of The Middle East and Third World. “Well let’s be relevant to our culture” you might hear people say. I agree with that, but

when people get desperate for God and they experience His manifest presence and power bringing genuine repentance that trumps any culturally relevant program.

THE MANDATE FOR ALL THE CHURCH

It is important to see all seven mountains reclaimed with the corresponding cultural shifts through people excelling in their sphere of influence in the workplace, but only Holy Spirit can save people and draw them into an environment with other believers where they can be nurtured and discipled. First, people need to know more than Christians being successful professionally as important as that is.

Everyone should have a personal encounter with Jesus.

That is why there are more people in the workplace taking a risk in praying for the sick and speaking a word of knowledge over a colleague. Many believers have believed the lie that if they just do their job they can avoid “stepping above their station.” They have forgotten who they are in Christ, and their Heavenly citizenship being relevant NOW to fulfil the Great Commission of Matthew 28: 18-20

The mountain of religion must do more than inform the other six mountains but be inextricably linked and not separate. In Spirit-filled worship there is a divine exchange where God draws near to us (James 4: 8) and as a consequence we can do more than just go out and do our jobs better. Worship is surely the most important part of the mountain of religion. Psalm 22: 3 tell us that God inhabits the praises of His people, and spirit-filled worship is not just the responsibility of the worship team but the whole congregation. When people are worshiping together it can shift the atmosphere not just in the church but in the city, even an entire region! We are changed in worship as we encounter Him helping us to fulfil the two greatest commandments of loving God and loving people (Matthew 22 37-39). From the mountain of religion we can now go to the other mountains with His love, power, and glory.

If all people see is just professional excellence without the reality of God’s love it counts for nothing.

Around 95% of the church are not in full time ministry but called to touch the world through the market place, and there are a variety of ways that God is already doing this. We need films, TV shows, professional sports, novels, schools, wealth creation, and civil laws that glorify God in communicating Jesus. However, I contend from God’s Word that 100% of born again believers are called to another mandate as well which transcends all eras and cultures:

“Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” Matthew 10: 8

We no longer live in an age where this ministry is exclusive to the preacher at the front nor should it ever have been. The mandate of the fivefold minister of Ephesians 4: 11 is found in the next two verses and this involves equipping the saints for the work of ministry! Many revivals stopped because they became too focused on the preacher at the front.

It was always God’s plan to find a dwelling place in a body of believers who could take out His DNA, His love, His Kingdom power and all that He is to a lost and dying world  because the body of Christ must be full of Him to overflowing. (Ephesians 2: 21-22)

Unlike the other six mountains that have ministers such as evangelists, prophets, and pastors as the significant displacing authorities, the mountain of religion has Holy Spirit fulfilling this role! That is not to say that there cannot be strong leadership and the right structure of apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, and teacher within the church so there is safety, true alignment to Heaven and order that brings a revelation of His mandates, but the believer that is called to the mountain of media for example cannot claim exemption from the mountain of religion, and no believer can, because the church is not about a building or an institution but a close community of believers who meet together but also go out into the marketplace. This is why it is essential that there is unity in the Church to bring God’s commanded blessing (Psalm 133) and why Jesus told his disciples that the world would know that they belong to Him by their love for each other (John 13: 35).

It is no surprise that the enemy wants to attack the mountain of religion more than any other.

If we want to see all seven mountains reclaimed then I contend we need to cry out individually but especially corporately for more than just a temporary revival. Often after people have sought God and He has shown up in a powerful visitation or revival, they have forgotten to cry out to ask Him to stay and not leave!

There is a convergence of divine strategies past and present to reach people for Christ in these days, and a need to accommodate this fulness. Above all though, we need a sustained awakening that is so powerful, so supernatural, and so sovereign that there will be an ease in reclaiming the seven mountains represented in Deuteronomy 7:1 and then glorifying Him in them through Revelation 5: 12 We must repent of being critical of the mountain of religion and the missed opportunities through bygone ages, but reclaim this mountain in pursuing God with passion and purpose together. As we do so we will see God infiltrate all spheres of society to bring in the greatest possible end time harvest of souls for His glory.

Stratford-upon-avon ministry update with video testimony

October 4, 2012

We have been living in the Stratford-upon-avon area for over a month now. Though there have been challenges God has been so faithful to us. By His grace and mercy new doors have opened to us. We have had the opportunity to enjoy a time of refreshment in His presence as we have been settling in. I have learnt more than ever that there can be no fruitfulness without intimacy. More is less and less is more in God’s economy. It is vital that we lay aside our agendas and ideas and just pursue Him seeking the revelatory realms so we can be fully in alignment with His plans and purposes for our lives. Our dreams must be subservient to His dreams for us. We must seek first to build His Kingdom alone. God is looking for a bridal company with burning hearts who are laid down to everything but Him and His mandates given to us.  The Church is increasingly moving to an apostolic structure seen in the book of Acts. This will offend the religious mindset because it requires a paradigm shift many do not want to take. It is essential to be in right relationship therefore, and Sasha and me recognise how important it is to have good accountability and covering as we move forward. It is a time to get excited about revival again. I do not believe that the new move will be like previous moves where there was an excessive focus upon the evangelist at the front. God is breaking down those walls of pride, religion, control, and restriction. I do not believe that the new move will be just visitation but will be about habitation where God has control of a yielded body of believers entrusted with a deposit of His glory.

We are thankful to God that we have been able to find families and individuals who have a genuine need for food within the local community working with secular organisations and other churches. We are thankful to Trevor and Sharon and Revival Fires too for supporting us to get this off the ground. It is so important to get increasingly more of God’s passionate heart of love for the lost. We must not judge people we see on the streets and in our sphere of influence. We should see people as HIS creations, HIS lost children that are looking for a way back home. We must show them that way home. I believe that signs, wonders, healings and miracles demonstrate how wonderful a Father we have. Let’s look for opportunities to share God’s love and power. They are not hard to find! Jesus must have all the pre-eminence and receive His full inheritance. See this video of a man testifying of being healed of an injury sustained thirty years previously, then look for someone to pray for.  They deserve an encounter with The Lord too, and it could influence their eternal destiny:

Our move to a new ministry

August 24, 2012

After five and a half years we believe that God is calling us to leave Dudley and relocate to take the fire out. It is a major step of faith, a venture into the unknown, a step outside of our comfort zone, but an exciting time nonetheless! We will continue to operate in healing the sick, feeding the poor, sharing Jesus and equipping the Church. We feel called to Stratford upon Avon. God has opened a number of doors for us since we responded to His mandate already. One of these is an amazing opportunity for us to use the surplus food of a well known supermarket to feed those in need. We are looking to see God build a new centre in the area as well ultimately. We need people, major financial provision, premises, a storage place for the food ministry, but most all all His presence and His voice guiding us into all we must do for Him. Above all we desire that all that we do glorifies Him, and our first love and first priority is Him, and we will seek Him with all of our heart. Our ministry is His ministry. As of now it is a small seed that we are trusting that He will water and nurture and grow into what He wants.  At every stage we want to be lead by His Spirit in total obedience. All fruitfulness comes only through Him, and abiding in Him (John 15). Please pray for us as we embark upon this journey of faith. If you would like to be involved or feel led to support us in any way please let us know. Thankyou for reading this blog with testimonies and videos of healings and miracles on the streets. I pray you have been inspired to a deeper walk with God, and a renewed passion to see people touched by God’s love and power  and come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  Watch this space, there’s more to come!

NEW 1. God heals man’s shoulder in town (video) 2. God entrusting The Church with new authority and anointing

March 13, 2012

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this blog. I’ve been involved with a number of projects which include healing and mercy ministry, equipping, preaching, and teaching. I still enjoy praying for people on the streets though, and I’m excited about the hour we live in which I will discuss in a moment. I’ve had the privilege to head up our Healing Clinic in church too, and help to teach and equip students on our church’s school in the area of healing, and prophetic street evangelism.

Recently I took the students out and while we were walking into town a young man from the local college asked us if we had a light. We do, but not the one he was thinking of! It helped to initiate a conversation with him and his friends. We were able to share God’s love, prophetic words, and release healing. Many other college students gathered, and we were able to reveal that Jesus is alive! Later on in the town centre, a man testified that after prayer his limited blurred vision was much improved, and he gave his life to Jesus.

The man in the above video testifying of how God’s power touched his shoulder, with pain leaving and freedom of movement returning also gave his life to Christ. God’s love is so irresistible! You and me as born again believers can pray and expect God to touch people. We have the privilege to see Him at work at close hand. Let me reiterate, the anointing to heal is for the many not the few!

2. God entrusting The Church with new authority and anointing

Many prophets have talked about this as being a time of kingly anointing and apostolic authority bestowed upon The Church for the purposes of harvesting souls for The Kingdom. I have been especially struck recently by Jesus’ last words on the cross before He committed His Spirit to The Father, and His last words before He ascended. In Acts 1 verse 8 just before He ascended, Jesus tells His disciples that they will receive “power when The Holy Spirit shall come upon you, and you shall be my witnesses” ultimately throughout The Earth. This is for you and me too! I reflected on Elijah and Elisha. Elisha asked Elijah for a double portion of his spirit. Elijah told him that if he could see him ascend that it was his. Elisha’s spiritual inheritance was confirmed when he saw Elijah go up in a chariot and he picked up Elijah’s prophetic mantle.  In John 19 verse 30 when Jesus was dying for us on the cross and about to breath his last, we discover that He said “it is finished.”  The Greek word is tetelestai which is a legal term meaning paid in full. We receive an inheritance NOT based upon our works and performance, but because of the redemptive work of the cross. In Luke 15 29 in the parable of the prodigal Son we learn that the older son is indignant that his brother received an unmerited reward but that he feels he hasn’t despite serving His father and not transgressing in his opinion. The Father tells him “Son you are always with me, and I all that I have is yours.” Luke 15 31 Yes we need to align our hearts rightly before God so we don’t miss out on all that He has for us, and we need to apply Kingdom principles in our lives such as fasting and praying, and sowing and reaping. But let’s be clear: ALL that we receive from God in terms of spiritual inheritance is because Jesus took our sin, and He is building His Kingdom to His glory, and the glory of The Father. If we understand this, we will be protected from the lies of pride and low self-esteem. In fact this revelation causes us to fall even more in love with Jesus and our faith to grow. Consequently we can obey God because we live in the Spirit not in our own strength to try to get something out of God with an orphan mentality. Our inheritance is because of our identity, our legacy because of our lineage.

God wants to entrust The Church which is the body of Christ on this Earth (Ephesians 1 22-23) with an inheritance of walking in the full anointing that Jesus walked in when He healed the sick and raised the dead on this Earth. As long as we are responsible, not squandering our inheritance, not using it with impure and selfish motives, but using it to glorify Him out of humble obedience rooted in faith and love then we can expect to see the promised “restoration of all things” (Acts 3: 21) in terms of The Church rising up in unity, apostolic authority, and kingly anointing. If we put Him first, point people to Jesus, and trust Him, then all things are possible. Jesus only did what He saw The Father doing in Heaven (John 5: 19) and Holy Spirit spoke with the authority of The Father bringing glory to Jesus (John 16 13-14) Jesus lived to glorify His Father (John 17: 1) In past revivals such as in the 1950s and 1960s there became to much of a focus on the healing evangelist rather than on The Lord. As a result the anointing did not spread to The Church (Ephesians 4:12) as God would have liked. in Joel 2: 28 God promises to “pour out His Spirit on all flesh” to release the heart of The Father to touch the world. While the fivefold ministry and apostolic structure very much still have their place in the modern Church, it is imperative that believers stop disqualifying themselves from being used by God because they do not feel they are sufficiently anointed or empowered for harvest. God wants the mature sons and daughters of God to rise up with His authority in this hour (Romans 8: 19) and release His love and miracle working power to touch cities, regions, and even whole nations. Jesus paid too great a price for this not to happen. We may feel inadequate and in ourselves we all are, but Colossians 2: 10 tells us that “we are complete in Him.” Philippians 4: 13 tells us that we “can do all things through Christ which strengthens” us. We are overcomers because He has overcome! It is time to press into God through praise and prayer, deep intimate worship, listening to His voice, and surrendering our lives completely to Him. Ultimately though, we must believe that He desires to use us in healing. How can we know this? He has commanded us in Matthew 10: 8 to heal the sick, and even to raise the dead!  The enemy has been allowed to lie  to The Church effectively for too long! There are many hurting needy lost people out there who do not know about Jesus. Let’s tell them, and most of all show them! Let’s be the gateway individually and corporately for His glory to bring in His full inheritance that He has paid for that He alone may be glorified!

Young woman’s knee gets healed instantly, with video

August 5, 2010

I have been very busy with various projects so have not updated my blog for a while. I’ve been ministering inside the church, but still enjoy going outside the church. Jesus tells us in the gospels to feed the poor and heal the sick. Doing both together brings a fuller demonstration of who Jesus is to those outside the church. I’ve been heading up a food kitchen with my wife called The King’s Table, it’s part of our church where we feed the needy with meals. We also pray for the sick there. So far in two months amongst the patrons we’ve seen many healed, a few salvations, and some attending our main church meetings. We’re building meaningful relationships with those who have been going through hard times. We as the Church must be the very DNA of Heaven through His Spirit living in us and flowing through us. As we take risks, God comes and touches lives. It’s for all of us, for the many not just the few.

I went into Dudley today, and met a number of young men who I have got to know who struggle with various addictions, and one young man who is getting free who gave his life to Jesus last Sunday in our church. Let’s release The Kingdom, build relationships, share His love and put our trust in Him to do what only He can! This is a kairos moment for the body of Christ not just to have faith in God, but the faith of God, a gift imparted to us so we can believe for the impossible, and see Heaven manifest on Earth as our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is glorified.

I prayed for a young woman on the streets with a painful knee. She was limping. God touched her, she felt a tingling sensation as a result, and the pain went instantly. She was able to walk free of any limp. See this and be encouraged that God wants to use you to share His love to set people free:

HIV now undetected after encounter with Jesus on the streets!

November 24, 2009

It’s been a while since my last entry. I’ve been focusing on building relationships with those I have already prayed for on the streets but have still had time to pray for people and see The Lord break in to their lives. About a month ago I prayed for a man who had some pain but also told me he was HIV positive and needed prayer for that. I had to remember that regardless of the scale of the problem, no mountain is too big for God. We mustn’t focus so much on the level of anointing we operate in, we must focus on The Anointed One who breaks yokes, sets captives free and reigns as King Eternal, Jesus Christ!

As I prayed for him Holy Spirit touched him tangibly and pain left him. This built faith in both of us to agree that HIV must bow the knee to Jesus and leave him. As I prayed for the HIV to go, he told me that he felt electricity touch him, he was truly encountering the glory of God. I felt humbled as The Lord broke in by the shopping mall. We believed that God had done something in his body. He told me when he was getting retested to check for HIV in the blood and I took his number. I wanted to know how the test went. A few weeks past, and I spoke to him on the phone. He told me that the result of the test was that the doctors could not detect HIV in his blood! Understandably they aired on the side of caution and told him to keep taking his medicine which I agree is sensible, but it would appear that The Lord has done something. What impressed me was that this man believed The Lord had healed him that day. It’s easy to pray for people who have faith. He did tell me that there had been encouraging signs before I had prayed for him, and as a Christian he has had other people pray for him too. On that basis it can’t be ruled out that he could have been partially or fully healed even before I prayed for him, and even if he was healed or the healing was completed when I prayed for him, I might well have been reaping where other people had sown by praying in tears. The point is that JESUS healed him, but what is encouraging is that The Lord can use you and me in conjunction with others to fulfil His glorious plan in people’s lives in setting them free.

Jesus tells us in Mark 11 22-24 ” Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”

This is a challenge to me to take to heart. Just recently my daughter’s 4th finger on her left hand suffered a severe laceration as it was trapped in a door at school after another child slammed the door shut accidently. The worst case scenario was not good, however my wonderful church started praying, and God, through all the prayers and the medical profession did something amazing in restoring her finger with sensation coming back despite a gloomy prognosis.

As I write there is a glorious outpouring of God’s Spirit at The International House of Prayer in Kansas City. God is pouring out His new wine. Let’s pray it goes around the world.

Whatever you’re going through, whatever dreams seem like they’re dead in the ground in your life, I want you to know that you can trust God. You can trust in His unfailing love for you. What you’re going through may be tough, you may be asking questions, but hold on to God, He will see you through to Your promised land. Have you given your life to Jesus? You can ask Him in right now to be your Lord and Saviour, repent of your sins, and thank Him for all He’s done for you.

UPDATE 29/11/09 You can see Victor’s testimony in the next article on video as The Lord touches him again, this time it’s his left leg being prayed for and on video you can see what happens!

God breaks in again touching family with His healing and saving power

August 13, 2009

Had a great time on Tuesday with the rarity of warm sunshine so far this summer bringing out many people into town. I went out this time with my friend Dave from our church. I saw a young man walking with crutches and felt led to approach him. He told me he didn’t really believe in God. He had sustained a broken bone and was in pain. Then his mother, who told us she was a Christian who attends a good local church, joined him and his brother. He accepted prayer as we told him he had nothing to lose but the physical pain he was in. He started out being very sceptical, but as we prayed, the power of God touched him, and he testified that the pain went! We shared the gospel with him. We prayed for his brother too and left. As we walked away, his sister came up to us and told us that she wanted us to pray for her grandmother who wanted prayer. At this point the faith level in us was high having seen what God had done, but also because we were being approached to pray for someone. This always encourages me because when they are doing this on the back of a healing and miracle that they have just seen or heard about it means that they must have some faith to be healed to begin with. Testimonies beget fresh testimonies!

The grandmother told us she was due to have an appointment with a specialist that day because of a painful right knee, suspected to have arthritis. As we prayed, God touched her and the pain left! She tested her knee out and could do something she hadn’t been able to do before without pain. As we shared the gospel she wanted to give her life to Jesus. When she got saved with her daughter there, her daughter was able to tell her mother that now Holy Spirit lives in her. I told her about our church, but felt it was more likely she would go to her daughter’s church with her daughter that Sunday and encouraged her to do so. God set this whole thing up touching the different generations of a family! It’s days like this that make it so worthwhile doing this. Remember that as much as we want to see people come to our church to get discipled if they are newly saved, they might already be in relationship with someone who attends another good church and we need to use wisdom here and allow God to use the networks already in place. The point is that Jesus is building His Kingdom, and we must be open to how He does that through each one of us. Glory to His name!

As of next week I along with one or two others in our church will be teaching newly saved Christians and maybe some non-Christians a foundational nurture course, excellently written by a member of our church. I believe that this may well go some of the way to bridging the gap between the streets and church, and yet as I’ve said before let’s prioritize those we are already in relationship with within our sphere of influence, ie friends, family, colleagues in the workplace and such like because they are more likely to want to attend our church than complete strangers on the streets, though there have been some significant exceptions to that. When God breaks into someone’s world whoever they are it will make a difference to them. Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 3 verse 6 that there are people sent to plant and others to water, but it’s ultimately God that brings the increase, and He is doing so. Let’s not miss the kairos moment, but step into God’s timeline. He desires to use us all. Harvest time isn’t just for later, it’s now, and I believe that harvesting angels have already been commissioned by The Lord strategically to gather in many people in this new season.

Evangelism teaching with video

March 27, 2009

It’s been a busy week. I’ve had the privilege to teach at The School Of Supernatural Living here at Revival Fires. I taught on street evangelism during the week, drawing on The Word and some of my own experiences, and then we went out onto the streets and did some! We saw healings and miracles and one lady accepting Jesus as Lord and Saviour! There is a CD available with 75 minutes of teaching in two parts available which I made while teaching students in my church. If you would one, please contact me. I talk about soul winning, maintaining contact with those you meet, and moving in presence evangelism, prophetic evangelism, and signs wonders and miracles. I’d like to put just a sample of that teaching into this blog for the benefit of anyone who wants to touch their world around them with Jesus Christ, and His love and saving power.

Why are we called to preach the gospel? Jesus commanded all believers to do so. Mark 16 verse 15 tells us to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” (KJV) If we love God we will obey His commandments (John 14:15)

How do we approach people: I believe that honesty is better than putting on some kind of churchy mask that people can see through. Of course you can ask people how they are, talk about the weather or something else but at some point you need to ask people if they want prayer or what they think about God, even ask them where they think they are going if they were to die today! I usually tell people that I’m a Christian out praying for people, and ministering to their needs. No one likes someone pushy, a gentle approach is the best. You might prefer to be sat on a bench, or be in a line at the supermarket rather than go up to people on the streets like myself but find what works best for you. It may seem scary at first, but The Lord rewards boldness when it is rooted in faith and love.

Sharing the gospel: Romans 2 verse 4 says that the goodness and kindness of God leads people to repentance. In Matthew 14 verse 14 we see that miracles came out of the compassion of Jesus. Jude 22 tells us to save some with compassion. However verse 23 tells us “save some with fear”. Asking people what their need is is an important way to build trust. Religion turns people off. What people will pick up on is whether we have love. Love never fails. We mustn’t water down the message though. I believe we have shifted in our generation to a gospel more centered around God’s unconditional love than the threat of an eternity in Hell such as was preached in previous centuries. What we need is the unconditional love of God, but we mustn’t be ashamed of the undiluted gospel message. (Romans 1: 16) If people have an encounter with God that leaves them without conviction that they need to truly repent, go to church and get discipled then perhaps we didn’t convey the need we all have as sinners for a Saviour. Sometimes I have asked people where they think they will go when they die. I get a mixture of responses. One of the most common, especially from older people who had a religious experience of church is that they hope that they are good enough to be accepted into Heaven. I then ask people why they think Jesus came to Earth. Many people don’t know! Then I explain, and ask them if they would like to accept the gift of salvation by turning from their sins and giving their lives to Jesus. A number of people have got born again like that.

However we live in a sceptical world that is looking for evidence. Perhaps it’s always been like that because Paul saw the need for people to see “the demonstration of The Spirit’s power” (1 Corinthians 2 4-5) rather than “enticing words of man’s wisdom.” So where people need physical or any kind of healing, ask them if they want prayer. Remember nothing is impossible for God and it is “Christ in you the hope of glory” (See Colossians 1 25-29) who is working through you. As a Child of God you are seated in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2 verse 6) and you can do all things “through Christ which strengthens you”. So don’t disqualify yourself, it’s not about self-confidence, it’s about putting your confidence in God! If you pray for someone and nothing happens, don’t be discouraged. Some healings are gradual. If you notice improvement, then pray a second time. Ask the person if they are feeling something. Often before I pray for someone for healing I will ask The Holy Spirit to touch the person with the love of Jesus, with the love of The Father. If they feel something this increases faith for both of us (see 2 Corinthians 3 verse 17).

The importance of follow-up for converts to become disciples: It’s important to remember that relational evangelism is very powerful, and it’s one thing to make converts, quite another to see newly saved people come into our churches and get nurtured and discipled. What we can do is stay in contact with the people we meet in the marketplace by getting their contact details, and if they don’t feel ready to come to a church service, they might be interested in just meeting for coffee or going to something specially set up for new Christians such as an Alpha course or similar. All we can do is our best, but we must remember that it’s God who brings the increase, and we shouldn’t get discouraged if we don’t see fruit, we are just called to be obedient to God. Let’s never lose the joy of intimate relationship with The Lord by getting too focused on external results that people might judge. In any event, The Lord Jesus is building His Kingdom, we are just the vessels. That means that people may not come into our church, at least not immediately, and we may have to be patient before they turn from converts into mature disciples.

What I would say is spend time with the Lord, seek His face, pray, as you feel lead fast and pray which I believe is a major key to move powerfully in the gifts of The Spirit, worship Him, read His Word so that you have an answer to give people on the street beyond your own personal testimony. Personal testimony though is very important because it’s difficult for people to argue against it. Also Tithe and give, this is one of the keys to ministering under an open Heaven. We need His presence, so seek His presence, seek His glory, and remember that only as we abide in the vine of Jesus Christ can we do anything (John 15 verse 5). Spend time soaking, resting and being still so you can hear His voice and allow Him to fill You with His Spirit, and with His oil. When we hear His voice, He can give us clues as to the people we will meet. This is known as treasure hunting (see Luke 15 :8). For example, he might tell you what they are wearing, where you need to go, and a word of knowledge about them. When you share something that you didn’t know in the natural it opens their heart to the reality of Jesus.

Ministry is the overflow of Your relationship with Him, so get close, cultivate intimacy with The Lord. Remember too that God releases angels to minister with you. Jesus is building His church in these exciting days, and wants to use you to bring in the end time harvest. Be encouraged as you see this testimony of a lady healed of arthritis and accepting Jesus as Lord and Saviour. God wants to use you too:

Prayer: Father, touch that person reading now with Your Spirit. Draw them into a deeper relationship with You. Let them receive impartation to move in the fullness of the gifts of The Spirit as they go out and minister to people. I pray for divine appointments, and lasting fruit as souls are won to Your Kingdom becoming disciples and not just converts. Let it be all for Your glory alone in Jesus name Amen

Evangelism update

There is no doubt that God is still moving powerfully in our meetings at Revival Fires Church even though we have scaled down the meetings from last year. He is also breaking through into our local community as well. I have been really seeking The Lord for fresh prophetic revelation. As we tune in more, get intimate with Him, we can receive dreams, visitations, and downloads from The Throne Room. We can then impact the world far more effectively. Angels are being released to gather in the harvest.

Street evangelism: On Monday I had a lengthy conversation with an elderly lady. She wasn’t a believer but told me that she had had a meaningful supernatural experience about two years ago. I noticed she had a problem with her foot. She told me that she had had an operation a while back which had involved her having to have her toes removed to avoid gangreen. We shared some more, then I prayed for her. She felt tingling in the foot affected. She believed this to be God’s touch on her, and prayed to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

On Friday, as I was spending time with The Lord soaking and listening to Him, what seemed like a random thought came into my head, “yellow socks”. I wondered what that meant! When I went into town I didn’t get into conversation with anyone very much, so used the time to pray. I then saw two woman, one walking with two crutches. Having seen breakthroughs with people with crutches I got into conversation with this lady. It turned out she was from another faith and culture but said she had a relationship with Jesus. I prayed for her and she was touched by God. Her friend told me that although she had been to church, she was also a member of a different faith. I prayed for her and she didn’t really feel anything. We continued to talk, and she told me she had back pain. I prayed for her and Jesus healed her. After a while, she wanted to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour as well, trusting Him alone for salvation. This time during the prayer she felt The Holy Spirit touch her. I invited them to church that night. They came and were touched by God, especially the lady with injuries who had a radical encounter with Jesus. She and her friend told me that since I had prayed for her the pain had gone, and during the meeting The Lord continued to touch her leg.

Coming Soon: People have been asking me how I go about one to one evangelism on the streets. I would like to address that in a post soon. One point I do want to make is that it is all about allowing The Lord to work through us, and it is not about what we do but who we are. As we draw closer to God, allow His love to touch us, we are able to fall more deeply in love with Him, and consequently meet people with the love and compassion of Jesus.
