A greater works generation, resting in God

January 9, 2015

Hebrews 4:10 “For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.”

As I was reflecting on this verse, God told me that it was connected with the restoration of the tabernacle of David Amos 9 11-12 reiterated in Acts 15 16-17, and Christ’s millennial reign but I could not immediately see the link. What does entering into God’s rest truly mean for us individually, and also how does it relate to our generation?

It does not mean lounging around doing nothing meaningful, and waiting for God to do something wonderful. It requires us to be proactive in drawing closer to God, surrendering everything to Him so we are ready to be His vessels with no limits on what He will do through us for His glory. It requires courage to obey Him as we respond to His call on our lives.

When Christ returns to rule and reign for 1000 years known as The Millennial reign, there will be glorious restoration with God’s redemptive purposes for mankind manifest. There will surely be 24/7 praise and worship as people from all over the Earth come to the temple to worship Him, not just during the feast of tabernacles yearly. The kingdoms of this world will literally have “become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ” (Revelation 11 15)

Today we see the tension and dichotomy of this glorious future increasingly breaking in now bringing shakings and birth pangs as the forces of darkness try to resist the inevitable conclusion of Christ’s return. Before He comes back however there is an opportunity for His bride to taste the powers of the age to come as Heaven invades Earth, and God tabernacles in us to bring in the final harvest of souls. That is why Hebrews tells us that we have to cease from our own works.

Psalm 90 verse 4 and 2 Peter 3 verse 8 state that a day is “as a thousand years” to the Lord. In reflecting on the millennial reign of Christ, it is interesting that Hebrews 4 verse 4 refers to God resting on the seventh day. It is well known that given that we are approximately 6,000 years from Adam, each 1,000 years is considered to represent a day, with the 1,000 year reign considered to be the third day since Christ was on the Earth, and the seventh day since mankind was created. So entering into God’s rest means allowing Him to tabernacle in us, with all of our agendas that do not align with His having to go. Entering into his sabbath rest means that our works must be His works. As He will rule and reign when He returns, we allow Him now to rule and reign in our hearts and lives so that we can manifest His Kingdom, His glory, Heaven, the future breaking in to the present!

Jesus tells us in John 14 12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.”

To be a greater works generation we have to cease from our own works and allow Him to do His works in us and through us. This includes the fruit of the character of Christ, but also signs, wonders, and miracles. What is considered supernatural now will be part of everyday life in the 1000 reign of Christ on Earth. With satan defeated and bound during this time God’s people will enjoy rest from their enemies.

We cease from our own works, “as God did from His.” (Hebrews 4 10)

Isaiah 11 prophecies a coming King whom the Spirit of the Lord will rest on with sevenfold attributes reigning in a period of peace and prosperity. While this might have been partially fulfilled with the reign of King Hezekiah, it is clearly prophesying about the coming Messiah Jesus and the Millennial reign where it will find its true fulfilment:

“The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” Isaiah 11 6-9

As a result of The Holy Spirit coming to rest on and in Jesus during His baptism (Matthew 3 16) He fulfilled His earthly ministry of demonstrating the Kingdom before dying and rising again. As born again believers Holy Spirit lives in us. We are being “builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit” (Ephesians 2 22) to bring The Kingdom of God to Earth, even a foretaste of Isaiah 11 before Jesus returns as the knowledge of His glory inhabits The Earth. There are gifts of The Spirit such as the word of wisdom and working of miracles that are available for believers but there is an even higher calling to be in such union with God that like forerunners such as William Branham there is a fuller expression of The Spirit’s attributes through Him abiding in us. Consequently we could function in abiding knowledge, abiding counsel, and abiding might rather than just the gifts. God will raise up an army of radical laid down lovers of Jesus Christ who will operate in this way. This is available to all believers though not all will respond to this call.

We can enter the finished work of Christ, the glorious future of the millennial reign and ultimately eternity now in terms of how we minister here because we are citizens of Heaven now (Philippians 3 20). We are all called to minister, we belong to Him, and we are His representatives here on Earth with a commission to make disciples, and a mandate to do greater works. That is exciting, awesome, but also challenging. It requires complete surrender, humility, boldness, faith, and above all the Father’s love flowing in us and through us to touch those hurting and lost. They can experience His manifest power revealing Jesus and the gospel to them.

The restoration of the tabernacle of David in Amos and Acts is not so much talking about restoring a building in terms of its prophetic relevance to us now, but ultimately restoration of intimate communion with God as His Church allow Him to abide and rest in them. As we rest in God, so He rests in us, and His Spirit transforms the world around us.

We only have to turn on the news to see another tragedy that can bring discouragement, sadness, and fear, but rather than be intimidated and sidetracked out of God’s purposes for us now, we should appreciate that the darkness represents an opportunity prophesied in God’s Word for us to shine in. Increasingly people are confused about why the world seems to be getting darker, but there is a hunger for Jesus Christ, the “desire of all nations” to give them the answers they seek, even if they do not yet know it. Many people are ready to encounter Jesus through us:

Isaiah 60 1-3 “Arise, shine; for your light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the Lord shall arise upon you, and His glory shall be seen upon you. And the Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.”

Romans 8 19 “For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.”

This is not a time to be passive, lukewarm, and neutral, but to press in to God, most of all because of the blissful union of our relationship with Him, the reason we were created, but also because His blood was shed for souls to come to know Him through you and me. We must allow His light to shine in the darkness.

NEW 1. God heals man’s shoulder in town (video) 2. God entrusting The Church with new authority and anointing

March 13, 2012

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this blog. I’ve been involved with a number of projects which include healing and mercy ministry, equipping, preaching, and teaching. I still enjoy praying for people on the streets though, and I’m excited about the hour we live in which I will discuss in a moment. I’ve had the privilege to head up our Healing Clinic in church too, and help to teach and equip students on our church’s school in the area of healing, and prophetic street evangelism.

Recently I took the students out and while we were walking into town a young man from the local college asked us if we had a light. We do, but not the one he was thinking of! It helped to initiate a conversation with him and his friends. We were able to share God’s love, prophetic words, and release healing. Many other college students gathered, and we were able to reveal that Jesus is alive! Later on in the town centre, a man testified that after prayer his limited blurred vision was much improved, and he gave his life to Jesus.

The man in the above video testifying of how God’s power touched his shoulder, with pain leaving and freedom of movement returning also gave his life to Christ. God’s love is so irresistible! You and me as born again believers can pray and expect God to touch people. We have the privilege to see Him at work at close hand. Let me reiterate, the anointing to heal is for the many not the few!

2. God entrusting The Church with new authority and anointing

Many prophets have talked about this as being a time of kingly anointing and apostolic authority bestowed upon The Church for the purposes of harvesting souls for The Kingdom. I have been especially struck recently by Jesus’ last words on the cross before He committed His Spirit to The Father, and His last words before He ascended. In Acts 1 verse 8 just before He ascended, Jesus tells His disciples that they will receive “power when The Holy Spirit shall come upon you, and you shall be my witnesses” ultimately throughout The Earth. This is for you and me too! I reflected on Elijah and Elisha. Elisha asked Elijah for a double portion of his spirit. Elijah told him that if he could see him ascend that it was his. Elisha’s spiritual inheritance was confirmed when he saw Elijah go up in a chariot and he picked up Elijah’s prophetic mantle.  In John 19 verse 30 when Jesus was dying for us on the cross and about to breath his last, we discover that He said “it is finished.”  The Greek word is tetelestai which is a legal term meaning paid in full. We receive an inheritance NOT based upon our works and performance, but because of the redemptive work of the cross. In Luke 15 29 in the parable of the prodigal Son we learn that the older son is indignant that his brother received an unmerited reward but that he feels he hasn’t despite serving His father and not transgressing in his opinion. The Father tells him “Son you are always with me, and I all that I have is yours.” Luke 15 31 Yes we need to align our hearts rightly before God so we don’t miss out on all that He has for us, and we need to apply Kingdom principles in our lives such as fasting and praying, and sowing and reaping. But let’s be clear: ALL that we receive from God in terms of spiritual inheritance is because Jesus took our sin, and He is building His Kingdom to His glory, and the glory of The Father. If we understand this, we will be protected from the lies of pride and low self-esteem. In fact this revelation causes us to fall even more in love with Jesus and our faith to grow. Consequently we can obey God because we live in the Spirit not in our own strength to try to get something out of God with an orphan mentality. Our inheritance is because of our identity, our legacy because of our lineage.

God wants to entrust The Church which is the body of Christ on this Earth (Ephesians 1 22-23) with an inheritance of walking in the full anointing that Jesus walked in when He healed the sick and raised the dead on this Earth. As long as we are responsible, not squandering our inheritance, not using it with impure and selfish motives, but using it to glorify Him out of humble obedience rooted in faith and love then we can expect to see the promised “restoration of all things” (Acts 3: 21) in terms of The Church rising up in unity, apostolic authority, and kingly anointing. If we put Him first, point people to Jesus, and trust Him, then all things are possible. Jesus only did what He saw The Father doing in Heaven (John 5: 19) and Holy Spirit spoke with the authority of The Father bringing glory to Jesus (John 16 13-14) Jesus lived to glorify His Father (John 17: 1) In past revivals such as in the 1950s and 1960s there became to much of a focus on the healing evangelist rather than on The Lord. As a result the anointing did not spread to The Church (Ephesians 4:12) as God would have liked. in Joel 2: 28 God promises to “pour out His Spirit on all flesh” to release the heart of The Father to touch the world. While the fivefold ministry and apostolic structure very much still have their place in the modern Church, it is imperative that believers stop disqualifying themselves from being used by God because they do not feel they are sufficiently anointed or empowered for harvest. God wants the mature sons and daughters of God to rise up with His authority in this hour (Romans 8: 19) and release His love and miracle working power to touch cities, regions, and even whole nations. Jesus paid too great a price for this not to happen. We may feel inadequate and in ourselves we all are, but Colossians 2: 10 tells us that “we are complete in Him.” Philippians 4: 13 tells us that we “can do all things through Christ which strengthens” us. We are overcomers because He has overcome! It is time to press into God through praise and prayer, deep intimate worship, listening to His voice, and surrendering our lives completely to Him. Ultimately though, we must believe that He desires to use us in healing. How can we know this? He has commanded us in Matthew 10: 8 to heal the sick, and even to raise the dead!  The enemy has been allowed to lie  to The Church effectively for too long! There are many hurting needy lost people out there who do not know about Jesus. Let’s tell them, and most of all show them! Let’s be the gateway individually and corporately for His glory to bring in His full inheritance that He has paid for that He alone may be glorified!

Fresh oil coming to the body of Christ

October 2, 2010

As I was waiting on God, I saw a large lorry going over an ice road carrying large quantities of oil. The lorry had to stop as the ice was getting thinner, and the sheer weight would cause it to sink. In season the ice had hardened up, was deep and secure, and the lorry was able to continue its journey to its destination. I asked The Lord about this and He showed me that the immense amount of oil was not to be carried by one or a few individuals but a whole body of believers but only when the foundations were secure, and the field to carry His power to was the world. In the natural in recent times, we have already seen the consequences of wasting oil. God does not want us to waste what He pours into our lives. (See Proverbs 21: 20)

We read about the dietary staples in the Old Testament of Israel, giving a picture of our complete dependence on The Lord, and foreshadowing what is available to us now through Jesus, the bread of life, and Holy Spirit living in us giving us the new wine of His presence and anointing oil:

Psalm 104 verse 15 “ Wine that makes glad the heart of man, oil to make his face shine, and bread which strengthens man’s heart.”

Without the anointing of Holy Spirit and the presence of Jesus Christ we have nothing beyond the temporal to offer those outside the church. Jesus reminds us of that:

John 15 verse 4: “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.”

The Greek word for fruit is karpos which is used not only in the context of the fruit of trees, but also it refers to someone’s progeny and posterity. The greatest commandment is to love God “with all our heart, soul and mind” (Matthew 22 verse 37), but the greatest legacy we can leave are the people we have touched with His love and truth, believers and unbelievers alike. God wants to shine forth His glory through The Church because as the darkness grows in the Earth in these days, His light must come forth speedily:

Isaiah 60 1-2 “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.”

We need wisdom and discernment to shine His light into those dark places. As we read the parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10 I believe we are given a paradigm for harvest for these days through the symbiotic flow of mercy and miracle ministry:

Luke 10 verse 33-34 “But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.”

Here we see how oil is connected with healing. People can be touched by the wine of His presence and the anointing oil of His Spirit through believers and be set free from their sicknesses, sorrows and sins because The Church has risen up to be “the fulness of Him who fills all in all.”(Ephesians 1 verse 23)

RELEASING HIS OIL IN LOVE

The Lord reminded me of the aga cooker we had when I was a child. This required coal to be ignited. If there was oil in a pan ready to cook food it would be productive only when heated up. When we are truly ignited by God’s love the anointing oil that we carry will be most productive (see Matthew 14 verse 14-21) . When we have His love and compassion for people the miraculous can be birthed very quickly. Miracles demonstrate more than the reality of Jesus Christ, but flow out of the very heart of God, the intense unquenchable passionate love that He has for each individual. This is what people must discover through us.

A SECURE FOUNDATION

I believe that The Lord has much fresh oil ready to pour into His Church. Some is available now, but there will be much more after He has built an even stronger and more secure foundation of love, intimacy and identity in Him, faith, mature character, a culture of honour, and apostolic relationships so that the anointing will be carried responsibly in alignment with His plans and purposes. He is continuing to strip away what can be shaken:

Hebrews 12 verse 27 “And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.”

When this secure Kingdom foundation is in place, we can believe that The Church will arise with the oil of anointing and horn of authority:

Psalm 92 verse 10 “But my horn you have exalted like a wild ox: I have been anointed with fresh oil.”

When this happens it could span a whole generation rather than just be a temporary visitation as in former times if previous mistakes are not made. In a number of moves of God there became an excessive focus on one individual, usually the evangelist so people opened themselves up to deception and even idolatry. Believers must take responsibility not to miss Heaven’s blueprint, to enter His timeline for harvesting, not leave it just to those in platform ministry. In Ephesians 4 verse 12 we see too that an evangelist has a responsibility not just to the lost but must use their office and gifting “for the equipping of the saints, for the work of the ministry, and for the edifying of the body of Christ.”
What was omitted previously does not need to happen again so visitation can become habitation. As we treasure Him above all else we treasure His presence more than the air we breathe, and He will entrust us with more:

Psalm 92 verse 13-14 “Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing.”

The Hebrew word for fat in verse 14 is dashen which can literally mean full of sap and is also used in the context of trees as in Jesus’ discourse on the vine in John 15.

A HABITATION OF HIS GLORY

God wants to tabernacle with us, the many not just one or two, as we prepare a holy habitation for His glory to abide in. In John 1 verse 14 we read about Jesus, the living Word becoming flesh and tabernacling among us. Numbers 11 verse 8 tells us that the manna provided in the desert to the Israelites tasted like oil. Jesus is the bread of Heaven, and He is literally the anointing oil because He is Christ, the anointed One and His anointing! Rather than just reside in a tabernacle made with human hands, God wants to tabernacle with us on a personal level. It is our ultimate destiny as believers! (see Revelation 21 verse 3)

What starts as a trickle can transition into a torrent if we lay hold on all He has for us. It is interesting that the Jewish new year 5772 which runs from September 2011 through to September 2012 contains the Hebrew character “bet” for two which is also Hebrew for house. Jacob had a dream where he saw a ladder from Heaven to Earth with angels descending and ascending. When he awoke he named the place “Bet-el” which means the house of God and anointed his pillow, a large stone, with oil. Today many believers dedicate a new house or church to the Lord by anointing the doors with oil. Oil is used as a point of contact between Heaven and Earth.

God is putting His House in order, in apostolic alignment, and building a strong foundation for corporate divine authority where Heaven is released on Earth. In many churches worship is going to new levels, and corporate prayer is intensifying. Churches that treasure Him, that treasure His presence above all else can believe for more signs, wonders, healings and miracles within meetings. He is restoring the Tabernacle of David (Amos 9 verses 11-12 and Acts 15 verse 16-17) which means a restoration of intimate communion with God through a lifestyle of worship and intercession. We can become more of a habitation of His glory. Consequently God is allowing His House, His Church to carry His glory to impact the world in increased measure. Just as church buildings house His glory, and many are healed in the atmosphere of worship during corporate meetings, and that is vital, so too we as individuals must house His glory.1 Peter 2 verse 5 exhorts us to be “built into a spiritual house.” We must be a habitation of His healing and delivering presence, carrying the anointing that breaks yokes.

LAVISHING OUR LOVE ON JESUS

Consider Mary in John 12 verse 3 anointing the feet of Jesus with the costly oil of spikenard so that “the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.” When we lavish our love on Jesus sacrificially and unconditionally not to get anything out of Him we end up getting more of Him! Consider the widow in 2 Kings 4 verse 2 with “nothing in the house but a jar of oil.” She gives it to Elisha out of obedience to God then gets many jars full of oil to put into her house in return. To those who have been faithful, He will give more oil to be housed and released!

He wants to saturate us with Himself because He loves us, but people can soon discover that we have been in His presence ( see 2 Corinthians 2 verse 15 and Acts 4 verse 13 ), then they no longer see us, but Jesus. Through being intimate with God in the secret place being soul winners for Jesus Christ is not something we do so much as who we are therefore. We have learnt to house His glory as we have surrendered our hearts wholly to Him. As laid down lovers of Jesus, touching others with His love and power is merely a by-product of intimacy consequently.

OUR INHERITANCE AND LEGACY

People must experience Jesus both inside and outside the church. We carry the anointing oil in greater measure when we are truly carrying Him! That is why we can take Jesus at His Word:

John 14 verse 12 “Most assuredly I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do He will do also, and greater works than these will he do, because I go to my Father.”

If the next move of God can be sustained through a generation because it has been built on a secure foundation, we can leave a legacy for our children so that our ceiling can truly be their floor, so this is a time to press into God and all that He has for us, and believe for as high a ceiling as possible!

It is the body of Christ’s inheritance to receive fresh oil. Romans 8 verse 17 tells us that we are co-heirs with Christ, or to put it another way co-heirs with The Anointed One and His anointing! Distractions, discouragements and doubts can limit the flow of anointing, but as we seek His face just because we love Him, and He alone satisfies the deepest desires of our heart, so our faces will shine radiantly with His oil as we reflect His glory to the world. In Romans 8 verse 19 we see the potential that can be realised as a body of believers walk in their full inheritance:

“For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.”

Why not this generation?

As you align yourself with God and His purposes for you, be ready for fresh oil to touch your life!

The marriage of mercy and miracle ministry

August 24, 2009

Acts 10 verse 38 “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with The Holy Spirit and with power who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”

It is certainly true that the body of Christ have not walked in their full inheritance in the last two thousand years ago in proclaiming and demonstrating the full gospel of Jesus Christ in Kingdom power, and yet God has used many to reach people with the love of Christ through doing good, through compassionate and merciful acts of kindness. Recently I heard a friend refer to an unnamed church in America that operates in prophetic and healing evangelism but feels led to leave other churches to feed the hungry, and provide material help for those suffering in poverty in the local community. In other words those other churches will be the “do gooders” but that church will distinguish themselves as being the ones that operate in the supernatural.
I had to ask myself, is that kind of separation biblical?

God has been speaking to me about convergence and fulness coming to the body of Christ where there isn’t an apparent excessive emphasis on one area of who The Lord is as in previous outpourings of The Spirit, and how He desires to minister through His body The Church. One example of healthy fulness is when prominence is given to The Word and The Spirit together. There can then be a move away from meetings becoming too information or experience driven, and the very “zoe” life of God can thereby infuse hearts and minds. Our experiences must never contravene The Word so we should be rooted and grounded so as to avoid opening ourselves up to deception, yet we mustn’t shy away from the new thing that The Lord wants to do in The Spirit because of sterile religious tradition, and a fear of the manifestation of His glory if it is “out of the box.”

When we are ministering to someone, The Word tells us about sacrificial giving and serving to meet a person’s needs, but The Spirit gives us specific strategies in how best to implement that. People need to know about the kindness and goodness of The Lord through our love for them (Romans 2 verse 4) , yet through a tangible encounter with His manifest presence they can get divine revelation to the reality of Jesus that can change them forever.

The Word and The Spirit together release mercy and miracle ministry to work harmoniously in tandem. About two years ago in the early days of going out on the streets wanting to share the gospel through prophetic and healing evangelism, The Lord spoke to me of the importance of compassion. Matthew 14 verse 14 says that “Jesus went out and He saw a great multitude, and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.” We need to find out what people need. James 2 verse 19 tells us to be “swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger.” We need to listen to God as we listen to people with compassion rather than preach at them. Some people might be hungry and need a meal, or a cup of coffee and someone to talk to, or a physical healing. We can get information by asking people what they need, but also The Holy Spirit can give us words of knowledge to reveal Jesus to them. I truly believe that mercy ministry can be the breeding ground for the miraculous. You only have to look at people like Roland and Heidi Baker in Mozambique adopting many orphans, yet seeing The Lord work through them in great acts of Kingdom power such as the blind getting their sight and even the dead raised. Moreover, testimonies of miraculous multiplication of food confirm how The Lord desires to do today what He did in His life on Earth, and even greater (John 14 verse 12) through His church.

There is a danger of compartmentalizing mercy and miracle ministry as being wholly separate. In Jesus’ parable of The Good Samaritan in Luke 10 we read that the Samaritan expressed his compassion for the man who had been attacked, left for dead on the side of the road, practically. In verse 34 it states that “He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine, and he set him on his animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.” It goes on to say that he gave the man money. Clearly this parable talks about mercy ministry, and yet I believe the reference to the oil and wine ministered to the man goes deeper than natural medicine but can be seen as referring to the healing anointing that Jesus operated in that is available to all born again believers. Mark 6:13 says that the disciples “anointed many sick people with oil and healed them”. The Greek word for anoint is aleipho which literally means to rub, to cover over. He is covering over and filling His body the church with all His attributes, His very DNA for this hour in history so He will be glorified as His Kingdom comes on Earth as it is in Heaven. (see Ephesians 1 22-23 and Ephesians 3 17-19) I believe the day is coming where it will be just as natural for The Church to pray for the sick and see signs wonders and miracles as it is to do good to people through providing for their material needs and befriending them. We need to press in to function in the fullest expression of God’s love that we can. I believe we will see The Lord ignite churches with a fresh passion for souls and compassion for the poor birthed through intimacy with The bridegroom Jesus Christ where mercy ministry and prophetic and healing evangelism will flow together to see a mighty end time harvest of souls. Let’s not miss what The Father is doing, but embrace the exceptional privilege that has been granted to each one of us to be fruitful carriers of His love, His mercy, and His glory.

Video: Woman’s leg grows, she leaves wheelchair!

June 20, 2009

1) Report 2) Video 3) Summary

Today was an encouraging day on the streets. I prayed for one lady who started to feel “woozy” as God’s presence hit her, and then as I prayed for her arthritis she told me that she felt more of God’s presence and no pain! More importantly she accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, and I took contact details from her. She expressed an interest in doing something like an alpha course or similar.

I then saw a lady in a wheelchair being transported by a man I presumed to be her husband. She had multiple infirmities, not least a spinal injury, an ankle problem, arthritis, and as I later found out one leg half an inch shorter than the other. She was in pain. As I prayed the power of God hit her. She felt heat, and pain left her back. As I continued to pray strength for her, I encouraged her to get out of her wheelchair and she took some steps, supported by her husband initially yes, but pain free! Not only that but I asked her to bend her legs which she hadn’t been able to do without pain! Jesus is wonderful! I prayed for her ankle and again she felt heat and pain leaving her. I asked her if one of her legs was shorter than the other. She told me her right leg was, but by this time faith had risen in the atmosphere of Heaven that was there tangibly and we believed that God would do this miracle. As I prayed she testified to feeling a pulling on her leg and warmth as God’s healing and creative power touched her. She walked again and testified that her leg had grown! See this video:

They told me that they were born again Christians who already attend a church. Many people think that miracles on the streets are just for those who don’t know Jesus. Not so, Christians must believe for their healing because it was provided in the atonement of Jesus. His Word says that “By His stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53 : 5)

As excited as I am by the power of God, as you can see from my previous entry I really want to build relationships with those I meet on the streets so they really will feel welcomed into the church family if they are not already in it. God is stirring my heart and others in our church to reach out to the homeless, the broken, the drug addicts and the orphans. We need mercy ministry and power evangelism, it’s not a case of one or the other, after all Jesus combined both when he was on the Earth around 2000 years ago, so should we! Acts 10 verse 38 says that “Jesus went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil.” Matthew 14 verse 14 tells us that Jesus was moved with compassion toward the crowd and healed the sick. When they were hungry He multiplied the loaves and fishes to feed thousands. We need this wonderful marriage between mercy ministry and power evangelism with signs, wonders, and miracles rooted and grounded in the love of God. Roland and Heidi Baker exemplify this so wonderfully in all The Lord has done through them in Mozambique and elsewhere. This is the restoration of proper biblical Christianity, but it will go way beyond the book of Acts as the body of Christ embrace their Heavenly mandates.

1) We were privileged to have Dr. Rodney Howard-Browne visit our church, and encourage believers to reach out more to the lost. Dr. Rodney imparted fresh fire, fresh passion to reach out to the unsaved. In fact there is a downloadable soulwinning script any believer can use at his website revival.com to witness to the unsaved. It starts by asking people if they know that God loves them and has a great plan for their lives. It then asks the searching question where do people think they would go if they were to die today? I’ve encountered so many people who either think they are too bad or in most cases good enough to go to Heaven. It is all about Jesus and what He did on the cross by cancelling out the debt we all owe because of our sins. Many times people just need to be told the distinction between being saved by faith as opposed to good works and they will get born again. Romans 3 verses 23-24 are used in this script, and the script moves on to inviting someone to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. There is then an opportunity to get contact details from the person and invite them to church. In many cases there are people who already attend a church or have a connection through a friend, family member or acquaintance with a church but do not know Jesus as Lord and Saviour. When they are lead to the Lord it may not mean that they will necessarily attend your church, but Jesus is still building His Kingdom.

2) I felt inspired after Dr. Rodney came to the church, and that week God gave me divine appointments enabling me to lead a number of people on the streets to Jesus, three of whom other church members were involved in witnessing to as well. In fact when I was on the streets I met up with other church members who had also got inspired to share their faith. The wonderful thing is that we can all do it, not just the itinerant evangelists! One man for example already attends The Salvation Army on and off but had never accepted Christ and did so after a simple explanation of how to get saved. I prayed for one young woman and a young boy with her who apparently was her cousin. He had a broken arm. When I prayed he felt God’s healing power and the pain left him. The young woman felt the presence of God so strongly she felt as if she was drunk! She accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. When contacted the next week, she said that her cousin had had no pain since he had received prayer! I prayed for a Hindu man who got healed of various infirmities who then prayed to accept Christ and I contacted him the following week but he is not ready to come to church yet. I ministered to an Asian Buddhist young man who felt the presence of God and prayed to accept Christ. We have been in contact since, he now has a bible, and has come into our church once so far. The one issue for him is letting go of his buddhist past because of the cultural and family roots. I am in contact with him though. More recently I prayed for a Mormon young man who received healing from a problematic jaw. He had been away from his Mormon church for two months, and prayed to accept Jesus. I’ve had some not so fruitful debates with mormons. It’s so much better when they experience Jesus for themselves in a tangible way!

Last week I prayed for a young man’s leg. He received healing, and accepted Christ. His fellow house mate, a Jehovah’s witness had her theology challenged when she saw the healing. She also renounced her religious past, and prayed to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Today the young man Matthew who had got a healing for his leg contacted me. I met some of his friends, one of whom I believe I had a word of knowledge for. He told one of his friends Dan about the healing he had received and encouraged him to get some prayer for his painful leg. In fact Matthew seemed to have even more faith than I did that his friend would be healed! I prayed for Dan and initially nothing seemed to happen, so I encouraged him to receive God’s love and let any wall down. Dan started to receive God’s manifest presence. I believe this released faith in both of us. 2 Corinthians 3 verse 17 declares “Where The Spirit of The Lord is there is liberty.” Dan’s leg got healed to his amazement. Then Matthew and two other young men came into our church coffee shop to have a cold drink as it was a warm June day. Earlier I had ministered to an elderly lady who asked me what was so good about Good Friday. I was able to share the gospel, and she accepted Christ, and as I prayed for her hip she felt relief from pain.

Other young men that I had previously ministered to on the streets have seen me or contacted me in the last few days. Building friendships and relationships can take time, but I believe it’s a vital key in evangelism. Through relationship we can see converts become disciples. It’s time to harvest the harvesters. Let’s not hold back any longer, let’s stop making excuses, let’s go after the lost! Jesus paid too great a price for you and me, and them not to share our faith!

Healing miracles lead to salvations in Dudley with video testimony

1) It has been a very positive time out on the streets. On Saturday I went out with my group from church which I co-lead and we saw the Lord heal and save people. In particular I had been given a word of knowledge by the Lord during my time with Him earlier in the day about spondilitis. As my friend Tim and myself approached this couple we asked them about their physical condition and we got to pray for various ailments. The man confirmed he had spondilitis. As we prayed Jesus touched him, and pain left him as he was able to move more freely. The lady who had arthritis felt better after prayer, and I asked her if one of her legs was shorter than the other. Having seen God touch a young man a few weeks ago by growing his leg, faith was released and she felt tingling and something happening! Tim felt led to ask the lady if she suffered from deafness. She said she did so we prayed and there appeared to be improvement. They both accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Like many others, they had been under the impression that their good works would get them to Heaven but the simple gospel convicted them of their need for Jesus.

Today I went into town and was led by The Lord to a couple who both had problems with tinnitis, and the man suffered with partial deafness needing a hearing aid. I prayed for the lady and she felt The Spirit of God touch her and the tinnitis leave her. I prayed for the man and he could hear much better and the tinnitis left him. I asked them where they thought they were going when they die. Again they thought that good works would save them, but after sharing the gospel, they both accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. They do know of a local church in their locality (which is not Dudley), so if they don’t come to fellowship at our church they may end up there. See this video as they share what The Lord did for them:
